Mitchell Rodeo
Time out from bicycle riding. We went to the Mitchell Corn Palace Rodeo in the evening. Here are some scenes, which include a parade, bucking broncos, calf lassooing, cow wrestling, and riding cows through fiery hoops!! The commentary emphasized the greatest nation on earth, God-given to the American people, and some less-than-flattering comments about President Obama.....all in all an entertaining evening.Friday, July 16, 2010
Day 26: Chamberlain to Mitchell, SD

I can't keep posting endless-landscape, road-to-the-horizon photos. Today was a flat 75 miles, and Eileen and Tod kept me company. Here are other aspects of the trip. We have to do laundry every afternoon, as we were only allowed to bring 3 bike shirts/shorts and the same for civilian clothes (mine are visible). Grasshoppers - by the millions - bask on the hard shoulder and leap when the bike wheel approaches. We get peppered from head to toe with grasshopper shrapnel. After dinner, a nice stroll along the Missouri River. Mitchell is famous for its Corn Palace!
