Today's 124 miles was the longest leg of the tour, and a personal record. We crossed wide windswept lonely expanses, with the road disappearing over the horizon. The most effective way to cover great distances is by forming a pace-line - photo. Each person assists the rider behind with a slipstream. We covered the distance in seven and a half hours, an average speed of 16mph. There was nothing but undulating grassland between start and finish, except an amazing gash in the rocks called Hell's Half Acre. Tomorrow is a badly needed rest day.
