Day 27: Mitchell to Sioux Falls, SD
Today's adjective...HOT. The ride was neither long (73 miles) nor hilly, but the temperature was 94F (35C) by the end of the ride, and we were sweltering. We stopped at convenience stores along the way for air conditioning and cold water. Sioux Falls is an ugly urban sprawl, and is home to our rest day tomorrow. The landscape is flat, and quite boring, but there were occasional glimpses of cool lakes and green grass.
Mitchell Rodeo
Time out from bicycle riding. We went to the Mitchell Corn Palace Rodeo in the evening. Here are some scenes, which include a parade, bucking broncos, calf lassooing, cow wrestling, and riding cows through fiery hoops!! The commentary emphasized the greatest nation on earth, God-given to the American people, and some less-than-flattering comments about President Obama.....all in all an entertaining evening.
